Trump involved himself in talks about FBI facility near Trump hotel: watchdog

President Donald Trump speaks during a meeting at the White House in June.

A top government official provided “incomplete” and “misleading” answers to Congress about President Trump’s personal involvement in discussions about the future of the Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters, according to a new watchdog report.

The inspector general of the General Services Administration found in the report, which was released Monday, that FBI, General Services Administration and White House officials met about the headquarters project in January, and that Trump was personally involved in one of those meetings.

The internal watchdog found that GSA Administrator Emily Murphy gave testimony to Congress in April that didn’t disclose the involvement of Trump or other White House officials, despite repeated questioning from a Democratic member of Congress about whether anyone at the White House had participated in the decision.
